In 2013, The Northumbria Light Blues (formerly the Light Blues Club of Northumberland) was established to bring together newer Freemasons from across the Province of Northumberland. It was created to bridge the gap between initiation and deeper engagement, offering support, friendship, and shared experiences. Since then, it has grown into a dynamic network that reflects the enthusiasm of Freemasonry’s future. With regular events, guidance from experienced members, and close ties to the Provincial Grand Lodge, the group continues to provide an inclusive space for Light Blues to learn, connect, and thrive.
The mission of the Northumbria Light Blues is to encourage, enlighten and enthuse those who are new to Freemasonry by fostering a sense of belonging, curiosity, and confidence. We do this by hosting engaging events, offering informal mentorship, and promoting open conversation. Whether members are newly initiated or progressing in their Lodges, we provide the support they need to grow in knowledge and confidence. By connecting individuals across the Province, we help lay the foundations for long-term involvement and active participation in Masonic life. Above all, we aim to make every new Mason feel welcomed, valued, and inspired.
The Northumbria Light Blues is guided by a dedicated team of members who bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a shared commitment to inclusivity. With responsibilities covering communications, events, finance, and outreach, the team works collaboratively to ensure everything runs smoothly and remains relevant to the needs of new and aspiring Freemasons. Leadership is drawn from across the membership, with a focus on approachability and shared ownership. By working closely with Lodges and the Provincial Grand Lodge, the team helps create a welcoming and engaging environment throughout Northumberland.
