Alston to Haltwhistle Charity Fundraising Event & Featherstone Castle Family Fun Day

Saturday 16th August 2025

Brethren of The Duke of Connaught Lodge & The Northumberland Light Blues have organised a sponsored walk from Alston train station to Haltwhistle train station.

The walk, of approximately 13 miles through stunning scenery in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) takes on average between 5-6 hours. For those who would like to take part but may not be able to walk the full 13 miles, a vintage steam train will run from Alston to Slaggyford. This will reduce the walk to approximately 8.5 miles.

08:30hrs - Members of the South Tynedale Railway Preservation Society will give a behind the scenes tour of the Victorian station Masters house.
