Brethren of The Duke of Connaught Lodge & The Northumberland Light Blues have organised a sponsored walk from Alston train station to Haltwhistle train station.
The walk, of approximately 13 miles through stunning scenery in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) takes on average between 5-6 hours. For those who would like to take part but may not be able to walk the full 13 miles, a vintage steam train will run from Alston to Slaggyford. This will reduce the walk to approximately 8.5 miles.
08:00hrs - Meet and greet Brethren from Alston lodge at Alston Train station (postcode - CA9 3JB)
08:30hrs - Members of the South Tynedale Railway Preservation Society will give a behind the scenes tour of the Victorian station Masters house.
09:00hrs - Commence the sponsored walk from Alston to Haltwhistle..
Event Marshalls with refreshments, maps and advice will be present at the following stations along the walk; Kirkhaugh, Lintley, Slaggyford, Coanwood and Featherstone Park. A courtesy bus will be available to shuttle any walkers who may require assistance.
Once at Haltwhistle Station members of Haltwhistle Lodge will be present to welcome participants at the end of the walk.
Once the walk has been completed all walkers and their families are invited to a family fun day at Featherstone Castle (postcode - NE49 0JG) where we have organised music and entertainment, licensed bar, bouncy castles, tombola's, face painting, children’s entertainers, ice cream van, food stands and a barbecue.
Prospective New Members - All Brethren with prospective new members are encouraged to bring them along to meet our Provincial Grand Mentor & Membership Team who will offer advice and provide information packs about joining the Craft.
